How to configure an invalid action rule

An invalid action rule defines what the chatbot does when the contact sends a response that is outside the expected options in a submenu. Configure it.

Prerequisite: the chatbot must already be created. See "How to create a chatbot" if needed.

  1. In the left menu, go to Modules > Chatbot and edit the chatbot with the pencil icon.
  2. In General settings on the left, pick the Default invalid action rule. This rule applies automatically to all new submenus you create.
  3. In the rule list, edit (pencil) or delete (trash) existing rules as needed.
  4. Click + to create a new rule:

- Name the rule. - Write the message to send to the contact. - Choose the action type: Go to specific menu, Go to parent menu, Repeat menu options, End chat, Agent transfer, or Desk transfer. - For repetition, set how many times the menu can repeat and which rule to apply after the attempts run out.

  1. Click Save.
  2. To apply the rule to a submenu, select the submenu, go to Advanced options, and choose the rule you created.

Invalid action rules apply only to submenus that have derived submenus.
